Ever heard of that saying? Measure twice, cut once? This is a mantra that all carpenters live by. They realise the importance of this method. The reason is simple.
1. Haste makes waste.Proper caution needs to be taken to ensure that there is no wastage or need to repeat. 2. It is based on quality and cost effectiveness.
We are also unconsciously using this method in our daily life.
1. The speed limit says 60km per hour, but you brake till you are at 55km- just to be dead certain of not taking anything for granted.
2. You tighten the screw or nut one more time beyond it's capacity just for good measure.
3. You pay a few Rands more taking into consideration that there may be some hidden costs.
So let's transcend this into other areas:
1. Are you a writer, speaker or trainer? Research your audience first.
2. Exercising for fitness? Reapeat one more set, swim one more lap, take another 5-10 minutes on the equipment. Just to make sure. Just to be dead certain. Just for good measure. .
3. On a project or report? Edit it one more time.
4.Going on an interview? No second chances here. You don't get a second chance to make a first impression.
5. Going on a date? Shave, clean up. She may be your potential wife.
Get the gist folks?
All the above is about quality of thought, process and action. Quality is the result of Care.
