Whatever you need to happen in 2011 needs to be an expectation. It may be a wish, desire, prayer, change or even a discovery. This means that something needs to happen.
Anything that needs to happen needs to be a revelation. A revelation is something that is new or different and something that is not currently in affect.
To have a revelation you need an expectation.
Expectation comes first and then revelation. You can have expectation without revelation but you can't have revelation without expectation.
If something occurs(revelation) how can you recognise it if you did not have a plan for it or ask for it or work towards it?
So what do you do for 2012?
Put plans in place. Write them down. Phrase what you want in positive terms. Create it in your mind first.
Let all good things that you expect now reveal itself to you.

Great communication
Communication is like a dance. One person takes a step foward, the other takes a step back. Even one mis step can land both on the floor in a tangle of confusion. - Oprah Winfrey
You are great
If what you have to say is worth listening to then people will wait to listen to you speak.
If what you have is worth owning then people will wait for you and give the time so that they can own it.
If what you have is worth owning then people will wait for you and give the time so that they can own it.
Get simple
Simple things done consistently well is the answer to the complex challenges we face in business, sales and personal life.
In Luke 17:15- Out of the 10 lepers
that were "cleansed" when Jesus
sent them to the priest, only one came
back and threw himself at the feet
of Jesus and gave thanks.
He showed appreciation. And Jesus said that because of this he is made whole.
The rest of the blessing and rewards
and fortune will come to you in full circle
and will be embedded only when you show thanks and gratitude.
Don't take your reward and walk away. Show thanks.

Momentum
It is not about how slow you are in progressing- at least you are moving-it is about not moving at all and staying still. That is the greatest folly.

Hey I trust you
Our sales process needs to change in 2012.
We are now a more aware, knowledgable and discerning customers. We have been made that way because of the financial predicaments that the so-called recession has put us in.
We were made to venture out as customers to seek bargains, value for money, and better deals.
Products and services that we once would not give a chance or shy away from, where tried out.
We are now aware of different options out there.
So what does this mean for service providers and product suppliers. Simple:
You need to view yourself as commodity suppliers.
Conclusion in follow up blog.

Steel web of habits
Watch your thoughts, they lead to words, and words lead to action; your actions then become your habits; your habits create your belief system and your belief system defines your reality.
What does this all mean? Watch your thoughts; identify them and ask whether you are where you are and getting what you are getting because of your thoughts.
Remember that the system within which each individual and organisation works in is perfectly designed to get them the results they are currently achieving.
Stew on that.

Fewer Words More Action
The response from JD Rockefeller when he was asked what made him so successful was: he spent 30% of his time thinking and 70% of his time in action. Most of us want everything to be 100% perfect before we embark on action. Successful people have 80% prepared and the other 20% falls into place while executing.
Harry Truman said that imperfect action is better than perfect inaction. Don’t let seeking for the best be an enemy of good.

Measure Twice, Cut once
Ever heard of that saying? Measure twice, cut once? This is a mantra that all carpenters live by. They realise the importance of this method. The reason is simple.
1. Haste makes waste.Proper caution needs to be taken to ensure that there is no wastage or need to repeat. 2. It is based on quality and cost effectiveness.
We are also unconsciously using this method in our daily life.
1. The speed limit says 60km per hour, but you brake till you are at 55km- just to be dead certain of not taking anything for granted.
2. You tighten the screw or nut one more time beyond it's capacity just for good measure.
3. You pay a few Rands more taking into consideration that there may be some hidden costs.
So let's transcend this into other areas:
1. Are you a writer, speaker or trainer? Research your audience first.
2. Exercising for fitness? Reapeat one more set, swim one more lap, take another 5-10 minutes on the equipment. Just to make sure. Just to be dead certain. Just for good measure. .
3. On a project or report? Edit it one more time.
4.Going on an interview? No second chances here. You don't get a second chance to make a first impression.
5. Going on a date? Shave, clean up. She may be your potential wife.
Get the gist folks?
All the above is about quality of thought, process and action. Quality is the result of Care.

I heard this recently: there is no such thing as success, there is just different levels of failure. Now depending on the recipient of this message, it may inspirational or pessimistic. but to me it made me think of success being a journey and not a destination.
Success has it's ups and downs, it has it's moments of gloom and it's ecstacy. It comes with small victories and it has it's minor setbacks. You can also measure success in increments instead of one big chunk. Even if you think you are failing in a specific task, goal, relationship, job, career, business, there are lessons that are learned in each so called failure or setback.
Success reminds me of the Indian dish Biryani. It is a dish of rice, lentils, vegetable, meat and spices. It is all cooked together and comes together in a wonderful taste sensation. However one of the spices which is integral to this dish is the spice called cardomom, or what the Indians call Elachi. This is a spice that truly enhances the dish. And when it is bitten into while eating, it can be distasteful.
However cardomom is a necessary "evil' in the success of this dish called biryani.
Remember that you cannot count yourself a success in business if are failing with your children or marriage. You cannot count yourself successful if you have a well run company and your health is taking a back seat.
Would you count yourself successful if you are losing friends and reputation all around you while gaining in other grounds?
Success is all encompassing. It is all demanding. It is a triad. It is to do with mind, body and soul. The Bible speaks about it in the New Testament. Not a direct quote- "what good is it to a man when he gains the entire world but loses his soul."

Plural-aligned to success
The whole idea of success is to get a grip on what behaviour is needed to be successful and then align your actions to that and lock it in.
